July 2010 14th July's issue is very large, carrying reports on our student who is working with UCB Slough on a Nuffield Foundation Bursary on page 2; Sports Day photos on page 3 & 4 with more on the South Africa tour; Y12 Careers & Information Fair Day on pages 2 & 5 and Junior Speech Day on page 6. This may take some time to load! 7th July's issue reports on the 50th Anniversary Open Day with lots of photos from the day. Also read about Mr & Mrs Brown for whom we raised funds to help them get back on their feet after an arson attack in Burnham, and fieldwork our Year 7 conducted at Dorney Lake. June 2010 30th June's issue is now available and features on the front page the Y7 visit to the River Chess with a more detailed report and photos on page 4. We have the timetable for the Open Day on 3rd July and we need as many tickets back for the Grand Prize Draw as possible - now please! Also we learn more about our developing links with the Y12 Aspirin Day at Reading University on page 3. 23rd June's issue is now available and features on the front page the Y7 visit to the Japanese Teikyo School in Stoke Poges with a more detailed report and photos on page 4. We have more information on the Open Day on 3rd July and the Grand Prize Draw, and the timetable for the day will go up here on the website soon (once we know if England are progressing in the World Cup). May 2010 26th May's issue is now available and features on the front page the Healthy Lifestyles Cross-curricular activities. April 2010 March 2010 31st March's issue features our national achievement in hosting the Radio 4 environmental debate programme Home Planet; our Maths achievements and the students' verdict on the Roop Singh day. 24th March's issue features The Hudson Hour report on the show on p2; Sport Relief photos on p3 and the front page with our local dignitaries and the Science Club win ICI Finals on p4. Don't forget the Earth Hour and Radio 4 are in next Wednesday to record Home Planet. 17th March's issue features National Science & Engineering Week with the Science Museum team entertaining 4 local primary schools and Burnham Upper alongside our Y7 and Y8 students with their show It Takes Guts! followed by a chair designing extension activity for our top Y7-9 science students. We also had the Y8 Bloodhound SSC day. The eggs have been hatching this week in reception to much excitement and prompting much debate about what we eat, and debate continued when Lord Howe stopped by to make a visit. 10th March's issue features more photos from our successful dance show; News on our Sports Relief activities and student achievements plus Student Council ideas from our students on p2; and Chris Short's winning Crime Writing short story on p3 3rd March's issue features our special video made at Dorney Lake with James Cracknell for the second STEMnet Olympic Challenge; our Year 11 work experience awards assembly, and photos and comments from our spectacular Dance Show. January 2010 27th January's issue focuses on Maps galore as The Ordnance Survey donate the local Chiltern Hills East map to all our Year 7 Geography students, and there are more photos of the Burnham Village fieldwork on p2; Haiti appeal news, and the restart for Café-Sci by a new Y12 team on p3; and news on the Auction of Promises with sample Lots on p4. 20th January's issue focuses on the Year 7 Geography fieldwork trips around Burnham Village. We celebrate the excellent results on CVA adjusted exam results (there's an explanantion of CVA too!) and there's an update on the news of the Auction of Promises. We hear from several students who have been looking outside their school studies and turning attention to life outside of school: reporting from the London Fashion Week; a lecture on Maths & Business Studies; and a report on Skills For Life which helps Y11 prepare for November's work experience week. Finally lots of activites are happening over half-term and we hear from the Bike It! crew. 14th October's issue covers the Freshers' Fair for Y7 encouraging them to take up at least one extra-curricular club.
